Renting vs. Buying
For many beginning students, renting from a reputable local music store is an excellent option. Rental programs often include maintenance, repairs, and opportunities to apply rental payments toward a future purchase.
Purchasing may be the better long-term investment for students who are committed to continuing in band beyond the first year.
Avoid purchasing extremely inexpensive instruments from unknown online brands. While they may cost less initially, they often develop mechanical problems quickly and can be difficult, or impossible, to repair properly.
